64levels

a program for playing samples chromatic on the mpc1000 using an external midi-keyboard

how to use:

1) copy the program (64-A.pgm) to your mpc and load it "PROGRAM ONLY" (if you load the pgm "WITH SAMPLES" you will get the error message "File not found !!" but you can ignore this)
2) select the sample you want to play chromatic in TRIM-mode
3) copy the sample (move cursor to sample name and press WINDOW and then F5) - do NOT press ENTER (F5) until you...
4) rename the sample to 64-1-A (it is important to use exactly this name)
5) tune the new sample to the note D (in TRIM-mode, NOT in PROGRAM-mode) - you can skip this step, but then you dont have the real layout of the keyboard keys - you wont hear a C when you hit C key on the keyboard
6) if you want to layer samples, repeat steps 2 to 5 with up to 3 other samples, but in step 4, rename them to 64-2-A or 64-3-A or 64-4-A and make sure in step 5 that you tune them all to the same note
7) select the 64-A.pgm in MAIN-screen and start playing on the keyboard
8) if you need more chromatic pgms in the same project, i included 64-B.pgm, 64-C.pgm and 64-D.pgm - you have to rename the samples to 64-1-B, 64-2-B, 64-1-C etc.

i made this pgm a while ago but didnt use it often cause it had the big disadvantage that you could not apply filter settings, fx, level, pan etc. to the whole pgm - but now with OS 3 and the PAD11-mode and the WHOLE-button you can do this in no time. its still not possible to use the q-links or to set volume- or filter-envelopes or lfo to all pads (without doing it manual on every single pad) - but maybe this can be included in future releases of OS 3... (or this pgm is made obsolete by including a real autochromatic function).

thanks go out to waxaegis for making bluebox (webpages.charter.net/dereese/gary/akai.html), to stereoroid.com for the mpc1000-faq and the BLANK-MELODIC.pgm and to the creators of OS3 (www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000)
